6/17/09 - EDITED TO REMOVE BLOG HOP LINKS, additional instructions have been added!
I am featuring the wonderful and versatile set - Snow Burst. As you'll see, I also used the retiring Holidays and Wishes stamp set quite a bit.
My first project to share with you also uses the retiring Holiday and Wishes set. I will miss using that great sentiment set in my workshops...it was definitely a go to set for me. I used my favorite (well, this week) In Color Pacific Point for this Christmas card and candle set.
For the card I used Glossy Cardstock and the emboss resist technique. I also died the ribbon to match. I really like the way this card turned out! I think I may be looking at this years Christmas card for my family and friends, well one of them any way...
For the card I first stamped random snowflakes on an entire sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 inch glossy card stock using versamark. I then heat embossed with irridescent ice. I used my desk top cutter to cut a 4 x 5 1/4 piece out of my embossed glossy card stock for my background mat. Next, I cut a piece for my focal panel and sponged Pacific Point ink over that entire panel. When I was satisifed with the color effect I achieved, I used a paper towel to rub the color off the embossed snow flakes. I layered that panel on a piece of Pacific Point cardstock, which was then adhered to my glossy and embossed mat - I used a stipple brush to add some more Pacific Point ink to the glossy mat first - then to the PP card base. Out of the remaining glossy/embossed card stock I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment in Pacific Point and punched it out using the wide oval, sponging the edges with PP. I used a dimentional to adhere it to the card. I also used my Pacific Point ink pad to die a piece of vanilla taffeta ribbon to add to my card.

The second item in this gift ensemble is a pillar candle. I stamped random Snow Burst images using Pacific Point ink on to tissue paper. Cut (or tear) the tissue paper to a size that fits on the candle (without any of the tissue hanging off). Then get a large piece of wax paper to wrap entirely around the candle which will hold the tissue paper in place. Tear a long enough piece of wax paper so that you can use the paper as a handle of sorts as well. Now, making sure the tissue and wax paper are snug against the candle use your heat gun to melt the tissue paper into the candle.

This next card is another Christmas card, this time using Baja Breeze and Shimmer White cardstock. This is also what you would consider a one-layer card or a clean and simple card. I saw this reverse masking used a lot with this stamp set, and really have no idea who to credit (if anyone) with this technique. It's a pretty basic technique and works well with this set. I used a stipple brush loaded with Baja Breeze ink to create the shading within the masked 'window'. Then I randomly stamped the Snow Burst images, again with BB. After removing the mask, I stamped a large snowflake as well as a smaller one along the edges. I used a two way glue stick to apply some light blue Chunky Sprinkles glitter to the larger image. This time I used the also retiring Hugs and Wishes stamp set for my sentiment. The last addition was the Whisper White Organza ribbon. You could really add as much bling as you wanted!
Supplies used - Stamp Sets: Snow Burst, Hugs and Wishes, Ink: Baja Breeze, Cardstock: Shimmery White, Other: Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Light Blue Chunky Sprinkles Stampin' Glitter, Two-way Glue Pen.
My last project to show you uses this set in a way it's not usually associated with, but very easy to do! I use the more linear snowflake images, and the smaller 'circley' (my word for it) image to create FIREWORKS! I used Pacific Point and Riding Hood Red ink and papers on this fun 4th of July 8x8 scrapbook page.
I used the Rock and Roll technique to ink up my stamps...super simple but highly effective! I do not have any stamps that say 4th of July, so I again went to the Holidays and Wishes stamp set and used the Happy from the Happy New Year stamp, and hand wrote the rest. Applying glitter to this page would fit well, but I just didn't go there this time. I apologize for the quality (or lack of) on this picture in particular. Photoshop and I aren't getting along at the moment!
